The ultimate African challenge!

With this charity challenge and volunteer opportunity, help children at a local school in Moshi by completing much needed repairs and refurbishments, then climb Mt Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest freestanding volcano. Do it as an open challenge for individuals, a bespoke group charity challenge or for CSR and team building.
Do something different and make a difference by starting off with three days volunteer work helping the local community with much needed repairs at a local school. Then, face the challenge of a lifetime! Following the slightly longer and more scenic route to the summit of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, you will be guaranteed the best chance of successfully reaching the summit. After taking one day more than most climbs allow, giving extra time for acclimatisation, you will eventually climb to the 5,895m Uhuru peak at dawn on the sixth day to enjoy one of the most amazing sights on earth.

Our challenges combine a physical adventure with time spent assisting with a community project in the destination. They make unforgettable trips and can also be undertaken to raise money for a charity of your choice. In Tanzania we spend 3 full days working alongside locals to help improve conditions at a local school in Moshi (amongst the poorest communities in Tanzania). The projects include renovating classrooms, clearing land for sports and recreation, restoring furniture. Time will also be spent with the pupils of course! Not only are we providing valuable assistance to the school but this time also allows participants to gradually acclimatise to the altitude, before embarking on the 6 day ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Example Itinerary

Day 1
Fly to Kilimanjaro.

Day 2
Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to your guesthouse.

Day 3-5
Volunteer work alongside the locals to help improve conditions at a local school.

Day 6-12
Climb Mt Kilimanjaro! This will be a challenging trek, taking you to altitudes of over 5,000m.

We will go slowly, taking our time to acclimatise and enjoy the views, before the final push for the summit on the sixth day.

Itinerary 2009: Instead of taking 6 days to do the climb, we take 5. We go slowly, taking the Machame Route, to take our time to acclimatise.

Volunteer Project details

The area surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro is home to some of Tanzania's poorest communities, and the schools are in dire need of assistance, which this challenge will help to provide. Whilst acclimatising in preparation for your climb, you will spend three days helping on a range of projects at a local school, including renovating classrooms, clearing land for sports and recreation and restoring furniture - as well as spending time with the pupils of course!
