Highlights of this Tour

This very worthwhile programme takes you to the grass roots of the poverty of Indian Gypsies who have been living a life without access to education, health and livelihood. Meet them to know their immediate needs and help them to help themselves to be self reliant. The project covers helping in a pre school plus, teaching Basic English and Mathematics to the children of 5 to 14 years of age in a fun and playful way, giving them a better start in life through education and getting into the community through awareness campaigns, health camps and skill development workshops for the grown ups.
Also, enjoy endless hospitality of an Indian host family, home made Indian food 3 times a day, participate in local workshops including Hindi Classes, lessons on Indian History and culture, yoga and meditation, henna painting, Indian dressing and cookery and weddings, giving you a great insight into the local way of life. Enjoy exciting local excursions like Camel Safari at Pushkar, Tiger Safari at Ranthambore, visit historical city Jaipur and world famous monument Taj Mahal at Agra. These excursions can be arranged on week ends on additional cost.
You are accommodated in clean and comfortable rooms on twin sharing basis with an Indian host family at a rural farm. The farm has European toilets, 24 hour electricity and hot water facility. A spacious courtyard surrounds the living area.

The benefits you bring in taking this Tour

You will be able to improve the educational and personal skills and health consciousness of the Gypsies while making the community aware of the importance of education, health and livelihood. This helps them in finding better job opportunities, developing their confidence and self esteem to join the main stream of the society. Also, it helps in improving the natural environment through community awareness initiatives to clean littered garbage, place dustbins and plant trees in and around the villages. It not only adds to the educational experience of the community but also volunteers develop their own skills and confidence while creating better understanding between the communities.
