Munich Design & Technology Sample Tour
3 Nights
DAY 1
Arrive in Munich by your preferred method of transport. Free time to settle in and explore the local area before dinner.
Day 2
After breakfast the group will depart for a guided tour of the BMW Car Factory. During this fascinating 3 hour tour the students will experience how parts are produced from heavy coils of steel, and how they are assembled into a car body and painted. You will see how an engine is created, and follow a car on its way to completion. After lunch the group will visit the BMW Museum. With its distinctive architecture in the shape of a futuristic silver bowl, it is among the most attractive museums in Munich. The exhibition takes you on an exciting journey through technical feats of pioneering from the historic BMW sports car through to legendary prototypes. Evening meal at your accommodation.
Day 3
After breakfast the group will depart for a guided tour of the Allianz Arena. This three-tiered stadium, home to Bayern Munchen & TSV 1860 Munchen has a capacity of 69,900 seats. The tour will give the students an insight into the design and development process of constructing such a large project. The tour will also include a visit to the changing rooms, tunnel, interior rooms, press club & upper tier and pitchside visit.
After lunch the group will visit Munich Airport for a guided tour. The new airport, which replaced the Munich-Riem site has received many awards for its design & architecture. At the Visitors Park students can marvel at historical airplanes or stand on the viewing hill for great views of the terminal and runways.
This visit can be substituted with the Deutsches Museum; home to sailing ships, models of atoms, windmills, space probes, diesel locomotives, industrial robots, organs and lifeboats.
