Art & Design Sample Tour
4 Days / 3 Nights
DAY 1
Arrive in Paris by your chosen mode of transport. Time
to settle in and explore the local area before dinner.
Day 2
You'll start your arts based tour with a visit to the Louvre, where the pupils will get to see de Vinci's and Rembrandt's masterpieces among others. After lunch, which can be taken in the beautiful Tuilleries gardens, the coach will take the group to the famous Musee d'Orsay, home to one of Europe's greatest collections of Impressionist and Post Impressionist works. Dinner will be provided in a local Parisian restaurant. After dinner enjoy an evening walk to Montmartre to watch the street artists in action. If you want to give your pupils some extra special memories, then you must show them the spectacular views of Paris from the Sacre Couer. .
Day 3
Today you'll start with a visit to the impressive Georges
Pompidou Centre. This towering contemporary building is home to the National Museum of Modern Art. After lunch you'll finish the day with a visit to Musee Picasso where you can see the largest single collection of the artist's works. If this visit has inspired the pupils, then perhaps a sketching session around the beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral would be an ideal way to complete the day? The evening meal will be taken at a local restaurant.
Day 4
Time allowing, students may have the opportunity for last minute gift shopping before you depart Paris for the UK.

Musée du Louvre
One of the most famous museums in the world, the Louvre is entered through a modern Paris landmark, the glass pyramid in the court of the old Royal Palace. This museum is home to a spectacular collection of art from many different cultures. Guided tours are available in English.
Musée d'Orsay
The Musée d'Orsay's collection of nineteenth century art is very impressive, as is the building that houses it, a converted Beaux-Arts train station. Please note that school groups cannot be pre-booked without guides until further notice due to refurbishment. Please visit as individuals, or request a guided tour.
Rodin Museum
This museum and its gardens house some of Rodin's most famous sculptures including The Kiss and Thinker as well as paintings by artists including Van Gogh and Monet. Rodin actually lived in the building that is now home to his greatest works.
Pompidou Centre
This museum housed in the Pompidou centre has a very comprehensive collection of 20th century art up to the present day and hosts many interesting temporary exhibitions.
Marmottan Museum
The Musée Marmottan houses a collection of over 150 paintings by Monet which were given to the museum by the painter's son. There are works by other Impressionists such as Renoir and Sisley and some good examples of paintings by nineteenth century Realists.
Picasso Museum
A collection which spans the whole of Picasso's life is housed here. Opened in 1985 in a spectacular mansion, the museum houses Picasso's own works and his personal collection of tribal art. Please note that this museum does not accept group bookings on a Sunday.
Fondation Claude Monet (Giverny)
Claude Monet lived in his house at Giverny from 1883 to 1926. The house and gardens have been restored to the way they were when the great painter lived there. Many of his Japanese etchings are on show and the famous gardens reflected in many of his paintings can be visited.
Museum of Art and History
This museum is situated in the suburb of St Denis. It contains displays of local archaeology, prints about the Paris Commune, Modern and Post Impressionist drawings and documents relating to Paul Eluard, the poet who was born in the area and the first floor where the nun's cells have been preserved.
Maillol Museum
A 20th Century treasure trove, the museum displays works by Picasso, Rodin, Gauguin, Degas and Cezanne, a whole room of Matisse drawings, some rare Surrealist documents and multiples by Marcel Duchamp and Jacques Duchamp-Villon.
National Museum of Ceramics
Located just to the south west of the city, this museum offers a collection of the finest French ceramics from the Rococo era. Among the collection are examples of Raphael and Titians work.
Musee de l'Orangerie
The museum which reopened in 2006 and which, as a special exhibit, has a cycle of Monet's water-lily paintings, known as the Nympheas, collected from museums around the world. They are now under direct diffused light as was originally intended by Monet. The eight paintings are displayed in two rooms.
